Rep. Gary Banz’ – HJR 1018 and HB 1804 and Sen. Rob Standridge’s SJR 4 and SB 53 calling for an Article V Convention of States did pass from the Rules Committees but with the Title stricken. Here is the definition: Strike the Title – to change the title of a bill to a few words which are briefly descriptive but constitutionally unacceptable. The major intent of this action is to ensure that the bill will go to a conference committee. Definition: Conference Committee – a joint committee whose function is to arrive at a single version of a bill which has passed the two legislative houses in somewhat different form.
This means that we must continue to contact the legislators and ask them to VOTE NO.
The National Popular Vote Compact (The Compact) which would establish new controls for how our future Presidents will be elected, was effectively killed in committee today. But it was merely ‘laid over’, which means it can be brought up again next session.
