OKLAHOMA CITY – Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly has blasted new federal proposals to allow an easier path to citizenship for undocumented aliens.
SCHLAFLY SPEAKS: Eagle Forum President Phyllis Schlafly was featured speaker at the annual awards banquet for Eagle Forum of Oklahoma.
In an interview with Oklahoma Watchdog, Schlafly said, “I consider it suicide for the country to pass that. The only people who want it are the Chambers of Commerce and the big money people.
“They are already up there in Washington lobbying for the Senate bill. They want even more immigration. They have a chance to get it because of the big donors who want the cheap labor.”
Schlafly continued, “If the Republicans don’t defeat this amnesty bill, the Republican Party will be a permanent minority. This is just the practical result of the bill.” As for the measure’s advocates, she asserted, “They’re not really interested in immigration, they’re interested in building and preserving big government.”
Schlafly spoke in Oklahoma City at a tribute to Bunny Chambers, long-time leader of the Oklahoma Eagle Forum.
